In a previous article, we discussed the Fragrance Wheel and Scent Families and we learnt that a floral fragrance, also called a floral scent, is one of the scent family categories.
Floral scents are primarily used for women’s fragrances. In this article we go more into depth on floral scents, and provide more insight on this scent type.
What Are Floral Scents:
Floral scents are - as its name says - scents that come from flowers. They’re composed of all the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), or aroma compounds, that are given off from floral tissue (e.g. flower petals). They usually smell like fresh-cut flowers or have a powdery note to them. Floral scents are perfect for the spring and summertime.
As previously mentioned, floral scents are mostly used when producing women's fragrances, but can be occasionally used for men's fragrances.
Floral Scent Subfamilies:
Fruity: Sweet, edible and tropical like a peach, pear, or apple.
Floral: Smells like fresh-cut flowers — imagine roses or lilies.
Soft Floral: Soft, powdery and sweet with a hint of cream.
Floral Oriental: Florals with subtle notes of spice.

Floral Fragrances from Our Collection:
Crazy in love, a fruity floral gourmand fragrance for a woman with a mysterious and sophisticated personality. An unexpected and hypnotic combination. The juicy notes of kiwi and lychee blend with a surprising accord of orchid and white chocolate. The woody and musky base offers a seductive side to this eau de parfum. The scent is unique, the trail is intense.
Elegant, voluptuous and intense, Sayidati is a modern interpretation of a chypre floral, an olfactory portrait of oriental beauty. The fragrance radiates rose and jasmine, while a veil of amber and vetiver gives depth and character to the composition. Its refinement is enhanced by the intensity of its musk heart. At the base, delicate and gourmand vanilla is harmoniously blended with patchouli leaving a feminine and sensual trail on the skin.
A love potion that reveals the femininity and hypnotic power of the woman wearing it. Captivating and radiant, the fragrance opens with delicious notes of blackberry, kiwi and mandarin blossom. A floral bouquet of orchid, freesia and water lily flower at the heart reveals the seductive side of the fragrance. The sensuality is amplified by its woody and musky base notes. Secret Love, a feminine, modern and sophisticated composition.
Charming Tuberose is a powerful and opulent eau de parfum with an exceptional long-lasting effect. A modern floral bouquet sublimated by the seductive and mysterious tuberose. The fragrance opens with a light veil of coconut and cinnamon, then reveals its floral heart of jasmine, tuberose and gardenia, giving the fragrance an elegant and luminous aura. Vanilla and vetiver in the base notes bring comfort and softness to the composition.
White Rose is an olfactory tribute to the queen of flowers, the rose. A feminine perfume full of desire and sensuality. A profusion of roses refreshed by sparkling and luminous notes of lemon and white flowers. The intense and captivating tuberose blends with this floral bouquet and then reveals its power of seduction. Accentuated by delicate white musk, this eau de parfum embodies femininity and absolute elegance.
Sweet Ambrette is an eau de parfum for men and women revisiting the fruity floral family. The perfume is based on the ambrette seed, one of the rarest and most precious ingredients in the word with multiple facets. The only musky scent made by nature itself and almost impossible to find. An entry of sparkling and light notes of bergamot, pear and lily of the valley radiate the fragrance, while an amber veil mixed with the warm and sensual ambrette seed adds character and depth to the composition.
For Jour 8, perfumer Sophie Truittar revisits notes of leather by developing a powerful and charismatic unisex fragrance. A total immersion in her universe filled with sensorial richness that captivates the senses. A burst of saffron, raspberry and thyme as top notes open an opulent floral heart of jasmine. Then come the wild and enveloping notes of leather and amber. A rich and daring fragrance.
Ultimately, floral scents are widely used to produce fragrances due to their sweet and fresh notes.
